Industry Overview

CNC machining for the smaller-airframe and drone economy

Not every flying program is a Tier 1 commercial transport. General aviation builders, kit airframe shops, UAV manufacturers, and drone hardware companies need many of the same machined components — brackets, mounts, motor housings, control surface fittings, landing-gear hardware, gimbal bodies — without the full weight of an aerospace prime’s supplier program behind them. Quick Brown Fox Solutions sits in that gap. Our ISO 9001:2015 certified production network, tight-tolerance CNC capacity, and U.S.-based machining give aviation and unmanned-systems builders aerospace-style discipline at a scale that fits their volumes.

Where our aerospace page is oriented toward Tier 1 / Tier 2 supplier work on larger airframes, this page is for the smaller-airframe and unmanned end of the market. Many of our aviation customers are buying single-digit to low-hundreds part counts, iterating on flight hardware, and need a partner who can hold tolerance, deliver traceability, and quote the next revision quickly. QBF Solutions is SAM.gov registered with UEI MA3DSJEPMFQ8 and CAGE 201W8; production runs through ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturing partners, with AS9100 partners added as program requirements warrant.

Capabilities Applied

Equipment matched to aviation and drone parts

Drone and small-airframe parts pull on a mix of milling and turning. The full 5-axis machining center in our production network — 19-inch round trunnion table, 18,000 RPM spindle, 60-tool magazine — handles gimbal bodies, motor mounts, and structural brackets where weight pockets and angled mounting faces all need to come off the same fixture. The network includes multiple 3-axis VMCs covering envelopes up to X 32.5 inch / Y 20.5 inch / Z 20.1 inch for plate-style chassis parts and rib stock.

For turned aviation hardware — threaded standoffs, axle pins, prop nuts, hydraulic fittings, antenna bases — our network operates 5-, 7-, and 9-axis Swiss-type screw machines with bar capacity from .812 inch to 1.50 inch, and CNC lathes with spindle bores from 1.625 inch to 3.05 inch and live tooling for cross drilling and milling. Parts ship with routine tolerances to plus/minus .0002 inch and repeatability to plus/minus .0001 inch on precision lathe work. Inspection covers gauge pins, micrometers, height gauges, and an optical comparator for profile and thread verification.

Materials and Finishes

Aviation materials we run regularly

Weight drives most aviation drawings. We deliver parts machined in aluminum 6061-T6, 7075-T6, and 2024 for structural brackets, chassis plates, and motor housings; titanium 6Al-4V where strength-to-weight matters and corrosion is a factor; and stainless 303, 304, 316, and 17-4 PH for fasteners, axle pins, and corrosion-sensitive hardware. Magnesium and high-strength steels run when drawings call for them. Material certifications follow each lot and tie to the part traveler.

Finishing inside the production network is limited to surface grinding, bead and vapor blasting, mass-finish deburring, and stock preparation. Anodize, chem film, paint, and any required heat treat are coordinated with qualified partners on the program drawing.

Compliance and Documentation

Records aviation builders can keep on file

Quick Brown Fox Solutions routes production to ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturing partners, with UEI MA3DSJEPMFQ8 and CAGE 201W8 on file under QBF Solutions. For each aviation or UAV program we can deliver first-article inspection reports tied to drawing balloons, material certifications by heat or lot, certificates of conformance, and in-process inspection records. AS9100-certified production-network partners are added as program requirements warrant. QBF Solutions does not advertise ITAR registration. Aviation and drone builders who need disciplined documentation without the cost structure of a full prime-aerospace supplier fit our profile well.
